Profile Picture of michael-pollak Position: Senior Lecturer

Michael Pollak in his role as senior lecturer mainly supports the “ways of thinking in informatics” lecture, hosted by the Human Computer Interaction group. He also supervises a number of bachelor thesis and projects as well as the advanced coding course. Besides his work at TU Wien Michael Pollak is a software developer and entrepreneur based out of the woodquater, rural lower Austria. He is specialised in plugin development for the LMS Moodle, specialised e-commerce solutions and prototyping.

His research interests are in the intersection of education, technologied, rural areas and society. Pollak received his PhD. working with the team of Martin Ebner at TU Graz. His dissertation explores the integration of practitioners in K-12 formal education to teach computational thinking more practice based. His interest in making and maker education led to the establishment of a makerspace and recurring workshops for rural youth.

As a lifelong learner Michael Pollak currently studies at BOKU Wien to gain a deeper understanding of sustainability challenges and technological potential in smart farming.
